"I run stems out of Pro Tools into a mixing board and then take the stems and buss them to multiple buss compressors. Then it's out to the 2 Buss then back into Pro Tools to track mix. I added an R22 as one of the compressor options as I was mixing a song. (I was sending stems to the R22 and my other high-end compressors that were two to three times the cost of the R22) and I was amazed that the R22 was as good- or better- in some cases, than my favorite compressors. I was so impressed that I got a second one a week later. The R22 is a compressor that you don't miss until you bypass it. It can sit quietly in a mix until it is bypassed, then you realize it was not quietly in the background, it was the solid foundation."
